October 2023 / Silversea / Silver Dawn / Copenhagen return – Norway Northern Lights cruise

I have never done a luxury cruise before, so I jumped at the opportunity to indulge in a 14-night cruise on the beautiful Silver Dawn from Copenhagen to several ports in Norway and then back to Copenhagen, I loved everything about the experience (except for a bit of rough weather). The ship is beautiful, and the staff were wonderful. On board the highlights were afternoon tea at the Arts Café, dinner at Siver Note and the afternoon quiz. All the restaurants were amazing, and we even rugged up and ate on deck a few times. The suites are all spacious, and the bathroom and wardrobe space are amazing. All the suites have balconies, but it was so cold we were not really able to use them which was a shame.

The ports and included excursions were great. I would definitely recommend the Flam Railway excursion and the farm tour in Bergen. We saw the Northen Lights when we were on Tromso and they were visible for several hours, both from the excursion sites and from the ship which was wonderful. I would also highly recommend Copenhagen as a destination, The city is compact and easy to get around, the pastries and coffee are great and there are plenty of historic sites without it being too overwhelming, Tivoli Gardens is usually shut over winter but it opens for Halloween so we able to go.  It was beautifully decorated with pumpkins, witches, ghouls and ghosts everywhere, but unfortunately it was very windy and bitterly cold so many rides were shut. It was still worth going though and I’d recommend it to anyone, even if you’re not much into amusement parks.
