11 Night Cruise sailing from Bangkok to Singapore aboard Star Legend.
Diverge from the ordinary as you delve into the extraordinary during an 11-day cruise along the coasts of Thailand, Malaysia and China. Dine on pungent durian or warm naan bread paired with spicy tandoori chicken among the varied and distinct aromas of the Jonkers Walk street food and restaurant fare in Malacca. Vault skyward in a double-decker elevator to the breathtaking observation deck on the 86th floor of Petronas Towers high above Kuala Lumpur. Snorkel or swim off the quiet shores of an isolated beach near Langkawi. Spend a late evening in Phutket dining, dancing or watching nightlife beneath the neon glow of a thriving waterfront along Patong Bay in Thailand. This cruise concludes among the buzzing scooters and towering skyscrapers in thriving Singapore, where you can step aboard the world’s fastest elevators to the world’s highest observation deck in Shanghai Centre, or book an optional tour to Angkor Wat where you can reflect among the largest religious monuments on the planet.
Highlights of this cruise:
Known for its beautiful ornate shrines and temples and vibrant street life, Bangkok is one of the top cities in the world to visit. Your yacht is docked as close to Bangkok as any ship can get. Highlights include the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Arun, and the Floating Market. Extend your stay to include the overland Angkor Wat/Cambodia tour.
Malaysia’s history permeates this UNESCO World Heritage Site city. The older part of the city has, in addition to the old palace and large buildings, many private houses and shops from nearly a century or more ago, built by Chinese traders. Exploration here includes temples, churches, old Dutch houses and a village of traditional Melakan houses. The Jejak Warisan Heritage Trail features many historic sites. It goes into the Baba Nyonya Museum, temples, St. Paul’s and the Porta de Santiago monument.
The question here is not if you will spend your day enjoying nature but how. Explore this UNESCO Global Geopark of the mangroves by kayak or launch, or take a gondola up the mountain for outstanding views of the rainforest. Sea eagles and hornbills fly overhead, jungle and rice paddies cover 80 percent of the island, and most of the rest is covered by beautiful black or white beaches. What an ideal place to spend the day.
The culture, the cuisine, even the language here is a mishmash of Malay, English, Chinese, Indian, and more. Learn to speak a few words of Manglish (Malaysian English) to earn smiles from the friendly people in George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its eclectic 200-year-old architecture.
Say hello to Stamford Raffles’ engaging city, a modern metropolis which is blended with the traditional historic towns of the founders. These include Chinatown, Little India and the Malay community of Kampong Glam. The Singapore River meanders through the center of the island with vistas of skyscrapers and historic shop houses, often side-by-side. Singapore is a tropical garden city with flowers and greenery everywhere. Among the attractions are the domes at Gardens by the Bay located near Marina Bay and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Botanic Gardens. Orchard Road is the epicenter for shopping some of Asia’s leading retailers and includes both international brands and local shops.
