Cruise Overview

9 Night Cruise sailing from Barcelona to Lisbon aboard Azamara Pursuit.

Ahh, Spain. A country of amazing architecture, fabulous food, wonderful wines, and an irresistible vibrancy in its culture and people. In fact, at the end of this intensive Spanish voyage with Azamara®, you may find yourself with castanets in your hands, a football jersey on your back, and a bottle of Rioja in your suitcase.
Departing from Barcelona, you’ll first arrive in Valencia, home of impressive Gothic monuments and plazas, the Calatrava-designed City of Arts & Sciences, and a perfect paella. Wander along Cartagena’s Calle Mayor for modern architecture and traditional tapas, and head to Conception Castle for stunning views of the city and harbor.

Next, it’s on to Granada, where the Alhambra palace and fortress complex is an absolute must visit. A late-night stay in the city also gives you lots of time to sample your way through the many delicious (and complimentary) tapas that usually come with each drink you order. Visit the exceptional museums of Malaga—the Picasso is a standout—and eat, drink, and shop all through the historic city center.
In Cadiz, explore Doñana National Park, stroll through the Old Town barrios and narrow alleyways, and see how many watchtowers you can count along the way. With an overnight stay in Seville, there’s plenty of time to visit the ornate Alcázar complex, Seville Cathedral (the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the final resting place of Christopher Columbus), and catch a flamenco performance.

The journey ends with yet another overnight stay, this time in Lisbon, Portugal. Take a sidecar tour of the city, go on a day trip to Sintra, and treat yourself to some of the finest ports from the Douro Valley. Looking for more travel ideas? Highlights of this cruise:

Barcelona is a cosmopolitan masterpiece. With a history rich in art and architecture, medieval, Gothic, and modern influences can be seen all over the city. Start at the waterfront and stroll up the shady, tree-lined Las Ramblas boulevard and discover some of the city's best shopping and bustling cafes.

Marvel at the stunning mix of innovative architecture and gothic beauty when you visit Valencia. This Spanish city is home to many avant-garde buildings, including the breathtaking City of Arts and Sciences cultural complex. Elsewhere, palaces and mansions constructed in the 15th century dot the cityscape, while The Silk Exchange resembles a medieval fortress housing many mysterious carvings.

Renowned for its multicultural history, flamenco dancing and free tapas bars, Granada’s glory is embodied in the magnificent Alhambra, a compound of palaces and gardens that is a masterpiece of Moorish style.

In Cadiz, cobblestone streets lead into café-filled squares, where you can sip while appreciating the Moorish architecture. Or visit Seville, where the locals are devoted to bullfighting, flamenco, and fiesta. The city also has a rich history evident in its old quarters and landmarks – an immense lavishly ornamented cathedral, and the Alcazar palace, exquisitely decorated in Moorish style.

One of the oldest cities in the world, Lisbon is rich in architecture and criss-crossed by monument-studded grand boulevards. Must-sees include the church of Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora, which dates back to the 12th century; Musee Calouste Gulbenkian, one of Europe’s leading fine arts museums; and Torre de Belém, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous monuments in Portugal.
